Surprise Fanart 01 - Worm King

"Oh wait, Shep. Just a head's up...the Worm King is missing from his cage, so keep an eye out for any black and red worms. ...Because, if he is here, then you know what will happen if we do anything he considers 'unpleasing.'"

*Yawn* "Like the Dodo birds?"

"...Yeah. Like the Dodo birds."

So I've recently got myself caught up with the epic lady 's comic known as Death Chicken (if you don't know what that is, go check it out. Seriously. There's a link with the copyright info n' stuff) after kind of leaving it sit for a while between her updates. Man, I'm hooked. I can't wait for the next update in content. It's gripping, the characters are great, and it's got this sense of epic dark to it that makes me shudder inside. I sincerely hope she publishes it, because once she does the money she'd get from it would be well worth it. It's worth its weight in solid gold and then some.

Anyway, before I get too carried away in my praise, after reading it I got in the mood to draw some more, and since I didn't feel like regular fanart I decided to do a drawing of the Worm King, my upmost favorite character in the series. While I wouldn't call him the primary antagonist (yet, I'm not sure until the story keeps going), he is one of the key bad guys in the series, and is out to get the entire chicken race. He's basically this ultimate and powerful worm that governs his kind and, should he witness his own being fed upon, he'll go berserk and completely obliterate the race that does so (which is why the Dodos are all now kaput. Poor dodos). Death, the original Grim Reaper, usually keeps him in a cage and feeds him a special cereal to keep him calm down, but then he manages to escape and causes mayhem in the chicken world, where the story's heroine, Death Chicken, has to save the day.


Though he normally looks like a simple earthworm with black and red (originally black and white, but the color change was done as a recent development by Bezzalair), when he changes he looks like a python out of Hell's back garden. Of course, as such his design, while epic, no longer has that same worm-like characteristic. So, when I drew him, I decided to add a bit of my own flair by keeping him 'biologically plausible.' His teeth are sharp extensions of his mouth, and his segments are more readily visible rather than linking directly together. Save for the blade-like hook at the end of his tongue I kept him relatively similar to the original from there, crown and all.

Death Chicken was thrown in as a suggestion by when I mentioned drawing this to her. Next time if I manage to draw her I'll make sure she looks a bit more detailed and less...well, chibi.
